| Tahun 2013 ini, FFD akan fokus pada Myanmar, sebagai respon atas mulai terbukanya sebuah negara yang tertutup selama beberapa dekade. Program SEA Docs hadir sebagai upaya untuk menunjukkan semangat sineas dokumenter dan jendela atas kondisi sosial di kawasan Asia Tenggara. Dalam Burma VJ (FFD 2009) kita bisa melihat bagaimana sulitnya merekam dengan kamera di Myanmar. Begitu pula dalam film Nargis-When Time Stopped Breathing (2009), film dokumenter panjang Myanmar pertama ini bercerita tentang korban badai Nargis yang terlambat mendapat bantuan karena junta militer melarang bantuan kemanusiaan asing. Masih ada ketakutan dari para korban ketika berbicara di depan kamera. Bagaimana dengan sekarang ketika keadaan sudah sedikit berubah? Kita akan melihat fase baru film dokumenter Myanmar. Cerita tentang kakek yang senang menghabiskan hari bersama cucunya, walaupun dia tahu itu akan segera berakhir dalam Sweety Pie. Insein Rhythm, tentang irama yang dirangkai dari Stasiun Insein, di sebelah penjara Insein yang terkenal. No. 62 Pasondan Street, tentang bangunan kolonial tua yang dikenal dengan Lokanal Gallery Building, tapi merupakan rumah bagi beberapa orang. My Grandfather's House, rumah yang dulunya adalah tempat berkumpul para arsitek gerakan kemerdekaan Myanmar. Cries and Whispers, tentang pasangan muda dengan bayinya dan batas fiksi dan dokumenter yang dikaburkan. Behind the Screen bercerita tentang seorang anak yang menjahit scene demi scene film untuk membedah pernikahan orang tuanya yang adalah ikon film tahun 1960an. Sebuah kolaborasi antar dalang dari Jerman, Perancis, Thailand, Myanmar, dan Kamboja dalam Puppets Beyond Borders. Program ini terselenggara berkat kerjasama dengan Yangon Film School dan Chopshot Docnet. In 2013, FFD will focus on Myanmar, as a respond to start opening a country which was closed for decades. SEA Docs program comes as an effort to show the spirit of documentary filmmakers and the window upon social condition in Southeast Asia region. In Burma VJ (FFD 2009), we can see how difficult it is to record with a camera in Myanmar. Likewise in the film entitled Nargis-When Time Stopped Breathing (2009), this first feature-length documentary tells about the victims of Nargis cyclone who are late to get help because the military junta prohibits foreign aid. There still fear from the victims when speaking in front of the camera. How about now when the situation is little bit changed? We will see a new phase of Myanmar’s documentary films. A story about a grandfather who loves spending the day with his grandchild, although he knows it will soon be over in Sweety Pie. Insein Rhythm is about rhythms which are assembled from Insein station, besides a famous Insein prison. No. 62 Pasondan Street is about an old colonial building which is known as Lokanal Gallery Building, but in fact is a house for some people. My Granfsther's House, is a house which previously used as gathering place of Myanmar’s independence movement architects. Cries and Whispers, about a young couple with their baby and the blurred boundaries between fiction and documentary. Behind the Screen, a child who sews scene by scene of a movie to dissect the marriage of his 1960s’ movie icon parents. A collaboration between Germany, France, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia puppeteers in Puppets Beyond Borders. This program is held in cooperation with Yangon Film School and Chopshot Docnet.
